Want to join in the Make Do and Mend revolution?

Want to learn how to mend and repair your garments to extend their life and reduce environmental impact?

In this masterclass you will learn all the basics you need to gain an understanding of mending, be able to look and asses garments and know what will be the most appropriate way to tackle each mend that crosses your path!

As no two mends are the same you will also get to see the variety of different techniques and solutions for all the mending jobs brought in by the rest of the class!

Morning

First up we will cover some of the basics of mending, learn how to identify different fabrics and what techniques work best for different kinds of fabrics and damage. We will sample some delicate mending, patching, visible mending and darning.

Afternoon

After we have the basics covered, we will go 'round table' style assessing each garment everyone has brought in for mending, to troubleshoot each individual problem and decide the best solution for that unique mend! Learn from everyone else's mending projects in the class as we spend the rest of the time fixing all your mending, with my guidance!

Your sewing kit (sewing machine is optional - if you want to use it or just sew by hand) with matching thread colors for your projects
Your mending jobs you want help with the most!
If your wanting to try some visible mending bring in some colored threads and/or fabric to use for patching in the contrast colors you want

REQUIREMENTS...

This class is run approximately 9am - 2.30pm with a short lunch break during.

It is for sewers of all skill level wanting to learn some new mending techniques! Almost all of what we will do will be done by hand, so you don't even need a machine if you don't want!
