I posted this inspiration picture ages ago and you ladies all went nuts over it and wanted to know how to make it yourself!

For this episode, I decided I wanted to use my newly released Simple Ladies Blouse online workshop as the basis, starting with a plain old mens shirt, and show you how I jazz the refashion with a little embellishment up to suit my style!

Aaaand how to make a sleeveless style to create that 5o's blouse! ( For those already enrolled I have updated the workshop with a BONUS detailed lesson on how to make it sleeveless, you're welcome!)

My aim is to give you some ideas and inspiration on how just a few small changes can make an entirely different blouse!

The Simple Ladies Blouse Refashion workshop I created to show you step by step through a simple men's shirt refashion, perfect for the beginner...did I mention it's online!

So here is my question... could you 'see' the refashion from the last inspiration picture??

What did I do to this to complete this thrift to vintage transformation...

  • Took in the side seams
  • Took off the collar
  • Made sleeveless
  • Replaced with contrast buttons and added a ribbon tie

It was one of the easier and more simple refashions I have done, but it was so nice to finish it in a reasonable time and see my sewing accomplishment!

Let me know what you think of this refashion and if you might like to try it yourself!

The workshop this is based on is perfect for beginners to get started refashioning
You can learn more about it here

Until next time...
Bye

    Dear Evelyn:
You are utterly brilliant! Adore your vintage sensibility & absolutely killer re-fashioning skills.

I don’t aspire your level of sewing or design greatness, but you’re inspiring me to consider adapting less complex versions of your clever ideas.

With bins of retro buttons, someone unskilled like myself could easily remove white buttons that I absolutely hate on my clothes. (They’ll look much better on display in a pretty glass vessel!)

I have well over a dozen unworn Spring colored tops that I never could figure out how to style w/my more conservative color palette. By replacing the basic neutral buttons w/black, navy blue, or even olive green they will instantly match my other wardrobe staple pieces.

What a mind-blowing concept to actually get some use out of these ultra feminine colored blouses.
Thank you for sharing your creativity!!! oxo
